Readathin TBR | 1/23/2020

Okay, I’m back! I didn’t post yesterday because my WWW Wednesday would have been exactly the same as last week. I have not been able to finish a book. I’m like 70% of the way through 2 though, so hopefully, reviews will come soon. Anyway, that’s not what this post is about! I think I’m going to participate in my first readathon! I saw the announcement for Readathin over on Donna’s blog, momsbookcollection. This is all about thinning up your TBR which I definitely need. I have one bookshelf where I keep all my unread books and it’s almost completely full at this point. Let’s get into the prompts.

Read a book in a genre you don’t normally read:

The Fountains of Silence by Ruta Sepetys

This is actually really hard for me because I’ll mostly read anything. Honestly, the genre I read the least is contemporary but I don’t have any books that fit in that genre on my TBR shelf because I know my tastes. However, I definitely don’t normally gravitate towards historical fiction so I’ll go ahead and give this a try.

Read the oldest book on your shelves:

Red Rising by Pierce Brown

I’m not sure if by “oldest” this refers to how long a book has been on my TBR shelf or if it means oldest by publication date. I’m going to interpret oldest by how long it’s been on my TBR shelf and Red Rising definitely wins. This has survived four moves at this point and I need to read it.

Read a thin book:

Come Tumbling Down by Seanan McGuire

I love this series and I’ve been wanting to pick up the next installment since its release date. Now I have a great reason to.

Read a book you started but put down:

The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon

Uhhh…..this is the only book I’ve ever started and put down but still want to read. I had this out from the library and didn’t read it in time before I had to return it so I asked for a physical copy for Christmas. We’ll see if I can get this done in between all of the other books I want to read in February. She’s chunky.

Read a book that was gifted to you or from a book box:

This is How You Lose the Time War by Amal El-Mohtar and Max Gladstone

I was gifted this for Christmas from my grandparents and yes I definitely chose another short book to offset the length of Priory of the Orange Tree.

Read a book with red, pink or white on the cover:

Crown of Feathers by Nicki Pau Preto

This was surprisingly hard to do without having all my books in front of me. All of a sudden the only book I could think of that would fit this prompt is Red, White and Royal Blue but I’ve already read that one. The phoenix is definitely red so we’re going to go with Crown of Feathers for this prompt.

Read a book you’ve been anticipating:

I think I’m going to double up on this prompt and use Come Tumbling Down or This is How You Lose the Time War again!

Read 4 books that you got before this year:

Crown of Feathers, This is How You Lose the Time War, The Priory of the Orange Tree, and Red Rising all count for this prompt.

Alright, this is the first TBR I’ve ever made for myself. Let’s see if I can stick to it.
